Veterans of the Autonomous Youth Center (AJZ) in Bern defend the niches they gained during the 1980s, and young autonomists provoke the State with their demands for more space and freedom. In contrast to earlier times, the State and police rely more on dialogue than on violence. This film portrays six autonomists of different generations and a policeman who has more than 25 years of experience in riot control. At the contentious interface between autonomous activists and the police, the viewer is taken on a journey to the inner recesses of anarchistic subculture.
