Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur 2022

Swiss short films on the big screen

08.11.2022

Switzerland’s multifaceted short film productions will make a grand appearance once again this year with almost 50 films at the 26th Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (November 8-13, 2022). Nineteen films will be screened in the Swiss Competition, 18 of which will celebrate their world premieres.  Five of these films have also been selected for screening in the International Competition. SWISS FILMS is hosting the annual SWISS FILMS Previews and is a partner of the Industry Lab.

Five films will be screened in both the Swiss and the International Competition: the two documentaries IL MURATORE by Matteo Gariglio, who won the Postproduction Award in Winterthur last year, and Sophie Farantatou’s BITTER SEPTEMBER about the murder of a Greek activist; Jorge Cadena’s short fiction film FLORES DEL OTRO PATIO about a queer activist group in Columbia; the experimental short film FÄLLE by Mischa Hedinger and Michela Flück; and the fantasy film DER MOLCHKONGRESS by Matthias Sahli and Immanuel Esser.

In addition to the Swiss and International Competitions, current Swiss shorts have also been selected for screening in other numerous festival sections: for example, in the Züri Shorts or Death by Sports programmes, as well as the Sparks Competition.

The Swiss Film School Day provides Switzerland’s film schools with a platform for presenting their films to the public and for networking.

The Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur is an Oscar-, Bafta- and EFA-qualifying festival, which means that selected award-winners are eligible for these international award events.

SWISS FILMS at the Industry Lab

SWISS FILMS has extended an invitation to the annual SWISS FILMS Previews at the Cameo cinema as part of the Industry Lab. Directors and producers will present four short films as work-in-progress. The invited sales and festival delegates will have the exclusive opportunity to discover new short films from Switzerland with international potential.

Sylvain Vaucher, SWISS FILMS Short Film Consultant, will moderate the Introducing International Industry Representatives) panel, an industry event at which reps from distribution, sales, marketing, production and buyers from online platforms and TV stations will present their portfolios. Speakers are Frauke Knappke (Magnet Film), Yvonne Ashley Kouadjo (The New York Times), Martina Fiorellino (Premium Films) and Amos Geva (T-Port).

In collaboration with Unifrance, Wallonie Bruxelles Images and SODEC Québec, SWISS FILMS has invited international festival delegates, filmmakers and producers to network at the Industry Brunch.
