Born in 1959 in Schönenwerd, Switzerland. Studied Visual Media at the Department of Journalism and Communication at Fribourg University. Since 1984 independent filmmaker and producer. Works regularly for Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF). Christian Frei is one of Switzerland’s most acclaimed directors known for his films SPACE TOURISTS (2009), THE GIANT BUDDHAS (2005) and WAR PHOTOGRAPHER (2001), nominated for Documentary Feature at the 74th Academy Awards.
