Fanny Bräuning

Born in 1975 in Basel, Switzerland. 1996-2001 Attends ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste), Film and Video Department. 2001 Receives degree from ZHdK. Since 2001 works as independent director and producer. Lives in Berlin and Basel. Her first feature-length documentary NO MORE SMOKE SIGNALS (2008) premiered at the Locarno Film Festival - Semaine de la Critique and received the Swiss Film Award «Quartz» for Best Documentary in 2009, among many other awards. Her documentary THE JOURNEY (2019) premiered at DOK Leipzig and won the Swiss Film Award «Quartz» 2020 for Best Documentary as well as Best Film Music and a nomination for Best Camera. She is a member of the Swiss and the European Film Academy.
