Sur un champ de foire déserté, trois exposants attendent en vain les clients. Un mystérieux investisseur arrive à l'improviste sur la place et invite le trio à se lancer dans une compétition sans pitié. Une grotesque course aux armements commence à la recherche de l'attraction la plus spectaculaire de la kermesse. Pourtant, le rêve d'argent, de gloire et de glamour se révèle être une vaste illusion.
