Une Caravelle de Swissair prend feu en vol et se désintègre peu après le décollage de Kloten. C'est le 4 septembre 1963. Dans les décombres dispersés au sol, les sauveteurs trouvent le portefeuille d’un certain Reynold Thiel, homme d’affaires, couturier, pianiste virtuose et compositeur. Ce Neuchâtelois est inconnu du grand public. Le Conseil fédéral, par contre, le connaît bien. La police politique a réuni au fil des ans sur son nom un volumineux dossier qui circule entre les membres du gouvernement.
