Geboren 1977 in Basel, Schweiz. 1999-2002 Studium an der HGK (Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst) Basel, Institut Visuelle Kommunikation. 2002 Diplom HGK. 2002-04 Gestalter in einem Münchner Design-Büro. 2005-07 Assistent an der HGK Basel, Institut Visuelle Kommunikation. Er gründete Dirk Koy Bild und Bewegung mit den Schwerpunkten Experimentalfilm und Animation und ist seit 2011 auch Dozent für Time Based Media an der HGK Basel. Im Jahr 2019 erhielt er den Basler Medienkunstpreis für die Arbeit «ground». INTERSECT (2022) lief im Wettbewerb von Annecy.
