Dea verlässt das ländliche Indonesien und gibt ihren Traum als Sängerin auf, um als Fremdarbeiterin nach Hongkong auszuwandern. Das Drehbuch zum Film entstand während eines neunmonatigen schauspielerischen Improvisationslabors mit einer Gruppe indonesischer Arbeitsmigrantinnen, die als Hausangestellte in Hongkong Opfer von häuslicher Gewalt wurden.
