Dea quitte l'Indonésie rurale et ses rêves de chanteuse pour émigrer à Hong Kong en tant qu'employée de maison étrangère. Le scénario est le résultat d'un laboratoire d'improvisation théâtrale de neuf mois avec un groupe de femmes indonésiennes migrantes employées de maison, qui ont été victimes de violence domestique alors qu'elles travaillaient à Hong Kong.
