Geboren 1957 in Schaffhausen, Schweiz. Schweizerische und italienische Staatsbürgerschaft. Lebt und arbeitet seit 1978 in Zürich. Arbeit als Drehbuchautor, Schauspieler und Produktionsleiter. Seit 1983 Drehbuchautor und Regisseur von Auftragsfilmen. 1984 Gründung der Peacock Film AG. 1985 Lizentiat in Germanistik und Romanistik an der Universität Zürich. Seit 2002 Dozent an der EICT (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television), San Antonio de los Baños, Havanna, Kuba.
2003 gewinnt er den Prix Canal+, Clermont-Ferrand für EINSPRUCH III.
Sein Spielfilm SUMMER GAMES (2011) wurde von der Schweiz als Oscar-Kandidat in der Kategorie Bester fremdsprachiger Film 2012 angemeldet und gewann den Schweizer Filmpreis "Quartz 2012", Bester Spielfilm, beste Kamera und Bestes Drehbuch. 2012 Spezialpreis der Jury Clermont-Ferrand, und Nomination für den Europäischen Filmpreis 2012 für EINSPRUCH VI. Mit dem Spielfilm QUELLO CHE NON SAI DI ME (2019) gewann er den ersten Preis am Fünf Seen Filmfestival.
