Born in 1957 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Joint Swiss and Italian citizenship. Since 1978 lives and works in Zurich. Professional activities include screenwriting, acting and production management. Since 1983 screenwriter and director of commissioned films. 1984 Founds Peacock Film AG. 1985 Receives degree in German studies and Romance languages from the University of Zurich. Since 2002 Lecturer at the EICT (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television) in San Antonio de los Baños, Havana, Cuba.
In 2003 he won the Prix Canal+, Clermont-Ferrand for EINSPRUCH III.
SUMMER GAMES (2011) was nominated by Switzerland to run as an Oscar candidate in the category Best Foreign Language Film in 2012, and won the Swiss Film Prize «Quartz 2012», Best Fiction Film, best Cinematography and Best Screenplay. 2012 Special Jury Prize in Clermont-Ferrand, and nomination for the European Film Award 2012 for EINSPRUCH VI. His feature film WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME (2019) won the First Prize at the Five Lakes Film Festival.
