Thirty years after “Chronik von Prugiasco”, the film accompanies the last two alpine farmers from Prugiasco for one year. While Flavio, a dairy farmer, is distressed by Swiss agricultural policies and low milk prices, Elmo has set his hopes for the future in the alternative niche of the market with his goat farm. There is also Carlo, an elderly alpine farmer who now struggles alone through life, or Pia, who cleans the Negrentina church, and Rosa, who awaits death in a nursing home. Francesco tends the gardens for Swiss Germans living in the valley and attempts to preserve traditional songs from Ticino as a musician in the “Vox Blenii” group. Pia’s son Edo keeps the only cable car in the region running. Archive material is used to bridge the past of these people and their village with the present, illustrating how their way of life and work has changed.
