After two years of fruitless efforts François Chollet, a professor of natural sciences, discovers that the reason he and his wife have been unable to produce a child is that his spermatozoids are weak. Rejecting the idea of a test tube baby and convinced that another woman will respond more favourably to his noble seed, he leaves his beautiful Catherine. But the poor man soon realises that he is too much in love and managing to overcome his male ego, he returns to the arms of his beloved, who – Oh miracle of nature! – soon presents him with not one but two blessings, in the form of twins!
