Gholam is a star among the “People of the Winds”, the vibrant black community of southern Iran. He provides for his family by dancing and playing rhythms. He is the son of Mama Safieh, the iconic Mama Zaar, leader of all Shamanistic ceremonies in the port city of Bandar Abbas. Gholam is tired of being a showman. He wants to be a spiritual leader, a Baba Zaar, like his mother. But he lacks the inner ability to be so: He is “free of winds”.
