«Ässhäk – Tales from the Sahara» on the road to success

The documentary film «Ässhäk – Tales from the Sahara» by Ulrike Koch (production: Catpics Coproductions), which won numerous awards last year and opened in cinemas in five cities in Holland last week, is continuing on its road to success. The film was released in Switzerland at the end of 2003 and ranked first among Swiss documentary films with the sale of approximately 28,000 tickets in 2004. «Ässhäk» will also participate in the competition at the international film festival in Mexico City (Festival Internacional de Cine Contemporáneo de la Ciudad de México), which will be held for the second time from 16 to 27 February 2005.
In 2004 «Ässhäk» was invited to participate at 18 international festivals and won awards at both the Philadelphia Film Festival in April 2004 (Best Director Award) and at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal in October 2004 (Documentary Film Prize). The film was released in cinemas in Germany, the second co-production country together with Holland, in June 2004 (distributor: Pegasos Film). Distribution in cinemas in other European countries is also scheduled.
