The “Visions du Réel” International Film Festival in Nyon, whose 14th edition runs from April 17 – 23, 2008, will present approximately 40 Swiss film productions – in all formats – in the various festival sections. There are three long-playing documentary films in the international competition: “Cher Monsieur, Cher Papa” by François Kohler (PS Productions, Vevey); “The Beast Within” (production: Maximage, Zurich) by Yves Scagliola; and “In der Welt” by Constantin Wulff, who currently works in Austria. The cinematographer Séverine Barde, from the French-speaking region of Switzerland, is a member of the international jury.
The remaining short and long-playing films are scheduled to be screened in the other festival sections: “Regards Neufs”, “Helvétiques”, “Investigations” and “Special Screenings”, as well as in “First Steps”, a new program reserved for independent short films, film school productions and debuts. Screened in this latter section will be the premiere of Juan José Lozano’s documentary film “Témoin indésirable” (production: Intermezzo Film, Geneva) and, among others, the three short films of the “Cartographie” collection portraying dance performances in urban spaces.

The Doc Outlook International Market (DOCM), which runs parallel to the festival, is a distribution platform for professionals in the film industry. Together with SWISS FILMS, it offers a great number of Swiss documentary films, aiming to expand the network regarding the distribution, promotion and co-production of documentary films.
