Awards for Swiss films in Europe, Latin America and the USA

Two feature-length films and two documentaries were honoured with awards at festivals in Bozen (Italy), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Tiburon (USA).

Two feature-length fiction films and two documentaries were honoured with awards at festivals in Bozen (Italy), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Tiburon (USA). In addition, the documentary film “Sagrada” won an award at the EuroMedia Awards in Vienna.

Manuel von Stürler’s documentary film “Hiver nomade” received a Special Mention from the jury as well as the Audience Award, endowed with EUR 2,000, at the 27th “Bozner Filmtagen” in South Tyrol (April 17-21, 2013). These mark the eleventh and twelfth awards for the film. Furthermore, the fiction film “L’intervallo” by Italian director Leonardo Di Costanzo, a Swiss coproduction (Amka Films, Savosa) was honoured with the “Provinz Südtirol” Award, endowed with EUR 5,000.
The jury at the 15th Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival BAFICI (April 10-21), which paid tribute to Swiss filmmaker Erich Langjahr with a retrospective, presented a Special Mention to the documentary film “Playback” by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov. Furthermore, “Cyanure,” Séverine Cornamusaz’s second fiction film, won the Golden Reel Award for Best Screenplay at the Tiburon International Film Festival (April 11-19).

First award for “Sagrada” in Vienna
Stefan Haupt’s “Sagrada,” which portrays Gaudí’s unique La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, won its first award in the Culture & Aesthetics category of the 17th EuroMedia Awards. The director accepted the award, endowed with EUR 800, from the European Society for Education and Communication (ESEC) in Vienna on April 19. The film is currently showing in cinemas in Montreal and Toronto, in Germany and Austria, and will be screened at two festivals in Eastern Europe (Warsaw and Kiev) in May.
