Five awards were presented to Swiss film productions and coproductions at three international festivals within the past five days: one documentary film was honoured with the Audience Award in Würzburg and four animation films with awards in Lisbon and Athens.

The documentary film “Drei Brüder à la carte” by Silvia Häselbarth won the Audience Award for Best Documentary Film, endowed with EUR 1,500, at the 39th Würzburg International Film Festival (March 14-17, 2013). The film illustrates how the integration of disabled people into a professional environment functions to everyone’s advantage, portraying a country inn at which the chef creates culinary delights together with his two brothers, both of whom were born with Down’s syndrome.

Success for feature-length and short animation films
Several Swiss film productions and coproductions were honoured with awards at the 12th “Monstra” Animation Festival in Lisbon (March 7-17): the feature-length animation film “Couleur de peau: miel” by Jung Henin and Laurent Boileau (coproduction: Nadasdy Film, Geneva) is a Swiss-French-Belgian coproduction and won the Jury’s Special Prize. The film competed against eleven feature-length film productions. Another coproduction, “Kali, le petit vampire” by Portuguese director Regina Pessoa (coproduction: Studio GDS, Carouge), was honoured as the Best Portuguese Short Film. The animation film “Bier im Tier” by animation filmmakers Joder von Rotz and Adrian Wolken (Lucerne School of Art and Design) was presented an Honourable Mention. The short film competed against 65 student films, including five from Switzerland. At the 8th “Animfest” in Athens (March 7-13) the jury presented the Swiss animation maestro Georges Schwizgebel an Honourable Mention for “Romance.”
