Best Fiction Award for “Ich bin’s Helmut” in Taiwan

Nicolas Steiner’s short film “Ich bin’s Helmut,” a Swiss-German coproduction shot in a single eleven-minute take, was honoured with the Best Fiction Award in the International Competition at the 11th Kaohsiung Film Festival (October 21 - November 6, 2011). Film director Nicolas Steiner, from Upper Valais, attended the festival in Taiwan to accept the award, endowed with 3,000 dollars (ca. CHF 2,700).
The nine-member jury comprised of Asian filmmakers selected the eleven-minute film "Ich bin's Helmut" as the winner of the award. The short film competed against 18 film productions in the category of Fantasy Short Feature. The leading theme of this year's festival, whose focus is on fantasy films, was "Dead or Alive," which Steiner metaphorically illustrates in his film. The film was produced at the Baden Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg and celebrated its premiere barely two years ago at the International Short Film Festival Winterthur. It has since garnered 90 festival selections and 40 awards over the course of its worldwide festival career.
