Bruno Ganz films on tour in US and Canada

Opening with the movie “Wings of Desire”, a film series dedicated to actor Bruno Ganz kicks off at New York City’s Lincoln Center on June 25th, 2004. “Bruno Ganz – Stage Star as Screen Actor” is a Swiss-initiated European-American co-production. In addition to SWISS FILMS and the Film Society of Lincoln Center, sponsors are the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York, cultural institutes in New York City such as the Goethe Institute, Alliance Française/Institut Français, Italian Cultural Institute, as well as SWISSPEAKS (Presence Switzerland). The series, which runs in New York until July 6th, is dedicated to arguably the most famous and most “European” actor, who was born in 1941 in Zurich, Switzerland.
Films in the program are: “The American Friend” (Wim Wenders 1977),”In the White City” (Alain Tanner 1983),”The Inventor” (Kurt Gloor 1980), False Witness” (Volker Schlöndorff 1981), “The Power of the Past” (Piergiorgio Gay 2002),”Wings of Desire” (Wim Wenders 1987), “The Last Days of Chez Nous” (Gillian Armstrong 1992), “The Marquise d’O” (Eric Rohmer 1976), “Nosferatu” (Werner Herzog 1979), “Bread and Tulips” (Silvio Soldini 2000), “Closed Circuit” (Rudolf Thome 1983), “The Wild Duck” (Hans W. Geissendörfer 1976). “Behind Me” (2002), a portrait about Bruno Ganz film by Norbert Wiedmer, will celebrate its US premiere as part of the program on June 26th, 2004.

The second destination of the tour is Montreal, Canada. At the Cinématheque Québécoise, an even more comprehensive program portraying Bruno Ganz will be screened from September 25th to October 2nd, 2004.
