Carte blanche in Paris for Swiss animation filmmakers Claude Barras and Cédric Louis

The “Forum des Images”, an institution for audiovisual works in the heart of Paris, has given Swiss director duo Claude Barras and Cédric Louis a carte blanche to select Swiss animation films for its programme on December 15, 2009. A total of 26 short animation films – including the entire production of the two filmmakers – will be screened in conjunction with this “Rendez-vous du cinéma d’animation”, which has been organised in collaboration with the Canadian National Film Board (NFB). The two directors will be present in Paris to present their films and projects to the audience.
The first part of the carte blanche showcases a selection of 12 films which have had a significant impact on Cédric Louis and Claude Barras and their works. The second part encompasses 14 short films, featuring their own film productions and those by their animation film peers from Switzerland. The programme comprises their most recent film “Land of the Heads”, as well as “Sainte Barbe” and “Banquise”, which was screened in the competition in Cannes in 2006. Films such as “Tarte aux pommes” by Isabelle Favez, “L’année du daim” (1995) by Georges Schwizgebel or “Flowerpots” by Rafael Sommerhalder will also be presented to the audience in Paris.
