Two of Switzerland’s most internationally successful films last year are scheduled to be screened at the 14th Osaka European Film Festival, which runs from November 23 – 25, 2007: “Das Fraulein” by Andrea Staka (production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) and “Late Bloomers” (production: Catpics, Zurich). The film’s director Bettina Oberli and the leading actress Stephanie Glaser travelled to the Japanese metropolis to present the film personally to the audience at the “Premiere Screening”.
The film festival in Osaka features cinematic highlights from Europe in its gala program “Premiere Screenings”. In this year’s program, two Swiss productions will be screened together with nine other films. Last year, Fredi M. Murer’s “Vitus” was in the limelight, and in 2005 both “Tout un hiver sans feu” by Greg Zglinski and Bettina Oberli’s fiction film debut “Im Nordwind”. The partnership between the Osaka European Film Festival and SWISS FILMS has enabled notably outstanding Swiss documentary and fiction films to be presented in Osaka every year since 2002.
