Dindo retrospective in Madrid
The 9th International Documentary Film Festival in Madrid will honour the Swiss cineaste Richard Dindo with a retrospective.

The most well-known works by the documentary filmmaker Richard Dindo screened in the retrospective will be “Dani, Michi, Renato & Max” (1987) and “Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara: le Journal de Bolivie” (1994). Further films will be “Raimon – Chansons contre la peur” (1977) and “Ni olvido ni perdón” (2003) as well as the biographies “Aragon: le roman de Matisse” (2003) and “Gauguin à Tahiti et aux Marquises” (2010) – films which address aspects of contemporary Latin American history.
Richard Dindo will attend the festival in Madrid to present his films personally and also conduct a masterclass, exemplifying his underlying principle that the documentary film emerges from “the shadow of his subject. First you must have the subject, then the film research follows, revealing and illustrating the ‘truth’ of your subject.”
SWISS FILMS, the promotion agency, is the partner of the programme together with the Cultural Foreign Policy Centre CCC-FDFA. In mid-2011 SWISS FILMS had already organised a Dindo retrospective together with the festival in Santiago de Chile.
