Eight short animation films from Switzerland will be screened in the two competitions at the 6th “Animateka” International Animation Film Festival in Ljubljana (December 7-13, 2009).
The following films are among the 43 works in the international competition and thus in the running for the festival’s Grand Prix: “Chrigi” by Anja Kofmel; “Land of the Heads” by Regieduo Claude Barras and Cédric Louis; “Trois notes de clarinette” by Anne Baillod; “Valise” by Isabelle Favez; and “Winter Sonata” by Yves Gutjahr. Claude Barras, co-director of the film “Land of the Heads”, will travel to Slovenia to present the puppet-animation film personally at the festival.

The three animation films produced at the Lucerne School of Art and Design (HSLU) – “Die Kinder im Mond” by Ursula Ulmi, “Me And My Monster” by Claudia Röthlin and “Pink Nanuq” by Jeanine Reutemann – are among the 25 films selected for screening in the “The Elephant in Competition”.

Jadwiga Kowalska’s “Tôt out tard” was honoured with the Audience Award at last year’s festival. Animation filmmaker Georges Schwizgebel was a jury member at last year’s festival, which also devoted a retrospective to his works. He also designed the visual layout for the festival last year.
