Swiss documentaries are experiencing a great deal of recognition. Some four Swiss contributions are represented among the last 15 for a nomination of recommended works in the EFA Documentary Selection: Nicola Bellucci’s “Grozny Blues” (Soap Factory, Basel; SRF), Marcel Gisler’s “Electroboy” (Langfilm, Freienstein; SRF), “Above and Below” from Nicolas Steiner (maximage, Zurich; SRF) as well as “The Good Life / La buena vida” from the German director Jens Schanze (co-produced by Soap Factory, Basel).

In the EFA Selection of feature films (total of 52 films from 36 countries) can be found Stina Werenfels’ “Dora or the Sexual Neuroses of Our Parents / Dora oder Die sexuellen Neurosen unserer Eltern” (Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion, Zurich) as well as the minority co-productions “Arabian Nights” by Miguel Gomez (co-produced by Box Productions, Renens), “In the Shadow of Women / L’ombre des femmes” by Philippe Garrel (co-produced by Close Up Films, Geneva) and the film shot in the Swiss mountains “Youth” by Paolo Sorrentino (co-produced by C-Films, Zurich).

In the next two months 3,000 members (including 112 Swiss) of the EFA will nominate their favourites in the categories of European film, best director, best actor, best actress and best screenwriter. The nominations will be announced on 7 November within the context of the Sevilla Festival de Cine Europeo. A seven-member jury will present additional awards in six additional film-technical categories. The 28th European Film Award will be presented in Berlin on 12 December 2015.
