«Film Miracle Switzerland» at Kinofest Lünen

At the 17th Kinofest Lünen, taking place in the North Rhine-Westphalian county seat from November 16 – 19, 2006, Switzerland is the country showcased. Six long and three short films will represent the vitality and diversity of the Swiss film culture, with a podium discussion themed «Film Miracle Switzerland» as part of the event. «Mein Name ist Eugen» will participate in the children’s competition program, where the main award comes with a prize sum of 3,000 Euro.
As part of the festival program are Michael Steiner’s success film «Mein Name ist Eugen» (Kontrafilm/C-Films, Zurich), «Grounding» (co-directed by Tobias Fueter, C-Films), the first time feature film «Nachbeben» by Stina Werenfels (Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich), and «Drum Bun (Gute Reise)» by Robert Ralston (Gute Filme, Chur), the documentary film «Gambit» by Sabine Gisiger (Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich), as well as the 1995 cult film «Broken Silence» by Wolfgang Panzer. The three short films «The Skier» by Martin Guggisberg, «Switzerland in 30 Seconds» by Chris Niemeyer, and «Happy Easter» by Ulrich Schaffner round out the selection.



The panel discussion «Film Miracle Switzerland», supported by the film promotion agency SWISS FILMS, will take place on November 18 and is moderated by film critic Rainer Gansera (Süddeutsche Zeitung). Participating from Switzerland are directors Sabine Gisiger, Michael Steiner, Robert Ralston, and script writer Michael Sauter («Mein Name ist Eugen» and «Grounding»). German participants at the discussion will be distributor Matthias Keuten (Schwarz-Weiss Film Distribution), who is releasing the Swiss feature film «Vitus» in German cinemas in December with over 80 film copies.
