Two Swiss filmmakers will present their works at the Yunfest (March 21-27, 2011) in Kunming: Béatrice Bakhti will inroduce her recent seven-hour coming-of-age chronicle “Romans d' ados 2002 – 2008”; Edna Politi will present her film “Ombres” on a composition by Heinz Holliger. The two directors will also hold documentary film workshops at the festival and at the Yunnan Art University. SWISS FILMS initiated this collaboration between the Yunfest and the Yunnan Multi Culture Visual Festival. This year is the first time Swiss works will be screened.

The Yunfest is a bi-annual documentary film festival that was founded in 2003 and showcases the most important trends in current Chinese independent documentary filmmaking. This year's festival will also focus on Swiss documentary filmmaking.

Apart from the films by the two guests from Switzerland, the festival will present the following Swiss works in the Outstanding Documentary Films from Around the World section: "Die Frau mit den 5 Elefanten" by Vadim Jendreyko; "EXIT, le droit de mourir" by Fernand Melgar; "Hans im Glück" by Peter Liechti; and "The House In The Park" by Hercli Bundi. These documentary films have already been shown in Beijing, the latter at the Independent Documentary Film Festival China last year and the others at the CCD Workstation. Twice a year since 2008, Swiss directors have led workshops with Chinese documentary filmmakers participating at the CCD Workstation in Beijing. This artistic exchange has also been initiated by SWISS FILMS.
