Two Swiss films – “The End Of Time” and “More Than Honey” – both of which celebrated their premiere at the Festival in Locarno, have been invited to the renowned Toronto Film Festival. The Genevan producer Dan Wechsler is among the 12 European producers participating in the Producers Lab Toronto, the international coproduction event. Thus, the Swiss participation at the most important film festival in North America stands firm.

Peter Mettler’s essay “The End Of Time” (coproduction: Maximage), which has been screened in the international Competition in Locarno, and Markus Imhoof’s documentary film “More Than Honey” (coproduction: Thelma Film), honoured as the festival’s concluding film on the Piazza Grande in Locarno, will be screened at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. The festival in the Canadian metropolis during the first half of September is an ideal platform for launching films in America and Canada, thereby justifying its excellent reputation. World sales companies and distributors from all over the world are present in Toronto.

Promising coproduction event
Film producer Dan Wechsler will participate in this year’s Producers Lab Toronto. Together with Laurent Nègre he cofounded Bord Cadre Films in Geneva and represented Switzerland at the Producers on the Move event in Cannes in 2011 – one year after his coproduction  “Aurora” (director: Cristi Puiu) was screened in the “Un Certain Regard” section in Cannes.
The Producers Lab Toronto is a coproduction event initiated by the Toronto Film Festival, the Ontario Media Development Corporation and European Film Promotion (EFP) because producers are increasingly seeking international coproduction partners. Twelve European and twelve Canadian film producers are selected for this networking platform. Twenty-seven film projects have already emerged from the first two editions of this event.
