«Gambit» wins Mediterranean Reportage Prize

At the 11th edition of the International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage, which was bestowed in Civitavecchia (Italy) on December 2, the Swiss documentary film «Gambit» by Sabine Gisiger (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) won the main prize in the «Mediterranean Reportage» category with a prize sum of 5,000 Euro. The 15-member jury was composed of film and television professionals from European, North African, and Arabic countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea.
The «Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage» is hosted by the Mediterranean Centre for Audio-visual Communication (CMCA) in Marseille, France, and is awarded annually in an Italian port city under the sponsorship of the RAI television station. Approximately 300 films from 29 countries were pre-selected, and among them, 31 were nominated for one of the five main award categories. The prize entails the opportunity for television broadcasts of the awarded films by Mediterranean television stations.



The film «Gambit» investigates the Seveso toxic catastrophe. It was first awarded at the Critic`s Week in Locarno in 2005 and has since participated in over 10 festival. The film won prizes in Bozen, Duisburg, Madrid, and Mar del Plata.
