From “Höhenfeuer” to “Home”: SWISS FILMS presents a selection of classics from Switzerland in collaboration with the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City and the Swiss Embassy in Mexico. They will be screened in the renowned Cinemathek from December 8– 22.

The “Joyas del cine suizo” programme comprises thirteen classic Swiss films produced between 1971 – 2008: nine award-winning fiction films by Alain Tanner, Claude Goretta, Yves Yersin, Rolf Lyssy, Markus Imhoof, Fredi M. Murer, Xavier Koller, Andrea  Štaka and Ursula Meier, as well as four documentary films by Daniel Schmid, Jacqueline Veuve, Erich Langjahr and Richard Dindo.

The Swiss film programme opens with Daniel Schmid’s “Il bacio di Tosca” and Mauro Mueller’s short film “Un mundo para Raoul”, which was honoured with an award at the Student Academy Awards in Los Angeles in 2013. Mueller will present his film personally at the opening.

Attending the programme is the Swiss film scholar Annemarie Meier, who has lived in Guadalajara since 1971. She teaches Film Analysis and Film Script at the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO) and is the cofounder of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG).

A selection of films from this programme will be screened in Cineforo, the Cinemathek in Guadalajara in January. The 31st FICG will be held in Guadalajara from March 3-13. Switzerland will be featured at the most important film festival in Latin America as the guest of honour and a high-quality programme comprised of current film productions will be presented. Following this, a selection of the current festival films will be screened again in the Cineteca National in Mexico City.
