The Italian-Swiss co-production “Giorni e nuvole” has received a nomination for “Best Film” together with 14 further nominations for the Italian film awards, the “Davide di Donatello”! The awards will be presented on April 18, 2008. The 50-year-old film director Silvio Soldini, who has joint Swiss and Italian citizenship, has been nominated for “Best Director” and for “Best Script”. Further nominations for this film, which was co-produced by Amka Film in Ticino and RTSI Television, went to Swiss sound engineer François Musy in the category of “Best Score” and Esmé Sciaroni in the category of “Best Costumes”.
Also with a nomination are the (Italian) leading actors Margherita Buy and Antonio Albanese as well as the supporting actors Alba Rohrwacher and Giuseppe Battiston. In addition, the executive producer of the film, film editor, composer of the film’s soundtrack, set designer, costume designer and hair designer have all received nominations in the respective prize categories. This means that “Giorni e nuvole”, which was not nominated for the Swiss Film Prize 2008, is in the running for an award in 15 of the 19 categories. The film will be released in cinemas in the German-speaking region of Switzerland (distributor: Filmcoopi) on April 3. Silvio Soldini has already won the most prestigious award in the Italian film industry twice with his films and as a director: in 2000 with the blockbuster “Pane e tulipani” (9 “Davide di Donatello”) and in 2002 with “Brucio nel vento” (8 “Davide di Donatello”).
