Grand Prix for “Karma Shadub” at Festival Visions du Réel

The Swiss documentary film “Karma Shadub” was honoured with the Grand Prix at the Festival Visions du Réel in Nyon. The Grand Prix for Best Swiss Film went to “La clé de la chambre à lessive.” A total of seven Swiss film productions won awards in Nyon.

The documentary film “Karma Shadub” by Ramòn Giger and Jan Gassmann won over the jury of the International Competition at the 19th Festival Visions du Réel in Nyon (April 19-26, 2013) and received the Grand Prix, endowed with CHF 20,000. Nineteen films were in the running for the award. The jury of the Swiss Competition presented the Grand Prix, endowed with CHF 15,000, to “La clé de la chambre à lessive” by Floriane Devigne and Frédéric Florey.

Special Jury Prize for “Vaters Garten”
In addition, Peter Liechti’s film “Vaters Garten – Die Liebe meiner Eltern” was honoured as the most innovative Swiss film in the Swiss Competition with the Special Jury Prize (endowed with CHF 10,000). “Vaters Garten” had already won an award at the Berlinale. Nicole Vögele’s 40-minute film “Frau Loosli” won the Postproduction Prize (endowed with CHF 5,000), and “Cantos” by Charlie Petersmann received a Special Mention.

Special Prize for the most innovative short film
The 28-minute Master-Film “Nwa-Mankamana” by Laurence Favre (ECAL/HEAD) won the Special Prize in Nyon as the most innovative short film (endowed with CHF 2,500). Simon Baumann’s “Zum Beispiel Suberg” won the Interreligious Prize (endowed with CHF 5,000), awarded to a film that sheds light on existential, social, spiritual issues as well as human values.
