18.06.2009

Christoph Schaub’s episodic film “Happy New Year” (production: T&C Film, Zurich) will celebrate its premiere in Russia and participate in the competition of the 31st Moscow International Film Festival (June 19-28, 2009). Director Christoph Schaub will travel to the Russian capital, together with the actors Johanna Bantzer and Pascal Holzer, to attend the festival.
In his fiction film “Happy New Year”, which received four nominations for the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ 2009, Christoph Schaub has people’s lives and destinies cross, people who are looking forward to celebrating New Year’s Eve together and making their New Year’s resolutions. The drama film is in Swiss dialect, with a cast comprised of well-known Swiss actors who appear at any one time as couples: Katharina von Bock, Bruno Cathomas, Irene Fritschi, Jörg Schneider, Denise Virieux as well as Switzerland’s Shooting Stars Nils Althaus, Johanna Bantzer and Joel Basman.

The Moscow International Film Festival is among the twelve festivals worldwide in the highest category of festivals with a competition recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). Sixteen films are in the running for an award – St. George Statuettes – in five different categories. In addition, the festival will screen Philipp Stölzl’s “Nordwand” – a German-Austrian-Swiss coproduction – in the parallel programme called “Films around the World”.
