“Hiver nomade” wins award in Thessaloniki

The double-winning Swiss Film Prize 2013 documentary film “Hiver nomade” was also honoured with an award at the Documentary Film Festival Thessaloniki, Greece. The film, which has had a tremendously impressive festival career, was honoured with the European Film Award last December.

After having won the Swiss Film Prize 2013 for Best Cinematography and the Special Prize of the Academy in Geneva last Saturday, Manuel von Stürler also garnered the ET3 (Greek Public Television) Broadcasting Award for his debut film for cinema “Hiver nomade” (Louise Productions, Lausanne) at the 15th International Documentary Film Festival in Thessaloniki (March 15-24, 2013). The jury, comprised of ET3 film directors and consultants, presented the award to two films in the festival’s Habitat section, one of which was “Hiver nomade.” Each film received a monetary award of EUR 1,500 and will be broadcast on ET3.

Impressive festival career
This marks the tenth international award for “Hiver nomade” since its world premiere at the Berlinale in February 2012. The film, which accompanies two shepherds on their long winter transhumance with 800 sheep in the Romandy, has been screened at more than 30 festivals and seen by over 66,000 viewers in Switzerland. The European Film Academy honoured the film last December with the European Film Award for Best Documentary Film 2012.
