Homage to Daniel Schmid in Ankara

The Ankara International Film Festival will pay tribute to the the renowned Swiss cineaste Daniel Schmid with a retrospective comprised of six films by the director of film and opera, who passed away in 2006. Also invited to the festival is the film portrait “Daniel Schmid - Le chat qui pense,” which will be personally presented by the film’s co-director Benny Jaberg and sound designer Christoph Brünggel.

The 24th Ankara International Film Festival (March 14-24, 2013) will pay tribute to the Swiss director Daniel Schmid with a retrospective. The homage comprises six films from various creative periods of the deceased director (2006): “Schatten der Engel” (1976); “Hécate” (1982); “Il Baccio di Tosca” (1984); “Jenatsch” (1987); “Hors Saison” (1992); and “Beresina oder Die letzten Tage der Schweiz” (1999).

The documentary film “Daniel Schmid - Le chat qui pense” by Benny Jaberg and Pascal Hofmann will also be screened at the festival. The film is a portrait of the exceptional and extremely versatile artist. The film’s co-director Benny Jaberg and the sound designer Christoph Brünggel will travel to the festival in the capital of Turkey to participate in a panel discussion. The retrospective is the second invitation for the presenation of a Swiss programme at the film festival in Ankara.
