A total of three awards were presented to the Swiss-French-Belgian fiction film “Home” by Ursula Meier at the closing ceremony of the 25th edition of the French Film Festival in Tübingen (November 11-19, 2008). The film won the Tübingen Film Festival Award of the International Jury, amounting to 5,000 euros, as well as the German-French Award of the Youth Jury, which supports the release of the film in German cinemas with 5,000 euros. The German Film Critics’ Jury also honoured the family parable with its award.
Nine films by young filmmakers from France and French-speaking countries were nominated to participate in the international competition of the Tübingen Film Festival, which celebrates young Francophone filmmaking. The international jury, comprised of filmmaker Denis Côté from Québec, Jean-Michel Kibushi from the DR Congo and Fabienne Hanclot, president of the French Association for the Distribution of Independent Films (ACID), explained the presentation of their award to “Home” with the following statement: “…for the originality of the idea and reflection, for ist juxtaposition of the eccentric and endearment within the family cosmos, for ist manner of confronting the absurdity of the world and concomitantly for ist belief in the power of the cinema”.
