Swiss film star Mathias Gnädinger received an Honorable Mention for his comedic performance in Lorenz Keiser’s comedy “Länger Leben,” which was screened in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (December 6-11, 2011). And Swiss film editor Tom Gerber was honoured with the Best Editing Award for his contribution to Keiser’s feature film debut. Actress Yangzom Brauen – who starred in the role of Jasmin, a nurse in “Länger Leben” – and Tom Gerber accepted the awards on December 8, 2011.

The Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival focuses exclusively on American and international film productions whose production budgets are under 5 million dollars and not yet distributed in the USA. In honouring Mathias Gnädinger, the independent film festival in Los Angeles has showcased an actor whose film career is closely linked to Swiss film productions nominated for an Academy Award in the last thirty years. Gnädinger performed in leading roles in "Das Boot ist voll" by Markus Imhoof, nominated in 1982; and in "Reise der Hoffnung" by Xavier Koller, which was honoured with an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1991.

Tom Gerber, the 32-year-old director who edited the film "Länger Leben," studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and is also an instructor there. He has just completed his first feature-length fiction film for television "Liebe und andere Unfälle" (production: Langfilm).
