Italian-Swiss film meeting in Stresa

17.06.2008

From June 18-22, 2008 the 3rd edition of the “incontri cinematografici italo-svizzeri” will take place in the Northern-Italian city of Stresa. At this event, films from Italy and Switzerland will be screened and encounters of filmmakers from both countries will be the center. On June 21, the prize “cigno d´oro”, especially awarded on the occasion of this event, will be presented to Italian-Swiss director Silvio Soldini in the context of a special screening of his recent work “Giorni e nuvole”.
The event will be opened with an open air screening of Werner Schweizer´s documentary “Dynamit am Simplon”, realized in 1989. The Swiss films having been presented last year in Stresa include the fiction films “1 Journée” by Jacob Berger, “Hello Goodbye” by Stefan Jäger, “L´autre moitié” by Rolando Colla, “Fuori dalle corde” by Fulvio Bernasconi as well as the long animation film “Max & Co” by Frédéric & Samuel Guillaume. Animation film retrospectives from the Lucerne-based animation studios SWAMP, of the Italian-speaking Swiss broadcasting service RTSI and an anniversary program of the Swiss Animation Group will form an additional focal point of the program, which encompasses – next to Swiss – also a number of Italian films.

The transboundary collaboration on the film sector will be the subject of several meetings, representatives of governmental institutions and television broadcasters as well as producers from both countries will participate in. This meeting, organized by the association Modulo Lem and with the support of the Piedmont, the city of Stresa, SWISS FILMS and the Swiss Consulate General, is for the first time under the patronage of the Italian ministry of education and cultural affairs and the Federal Office of Culture.
