19.11.2007

The Swiss fiction film “Marmorera” by Markus Fischer (production: Snake Film, Zurich) won the award for "Best Film" at the 17th edition of the International Week of Fantastic Film in Malaga (November 8 – 16, 2007). In addition, the cinematographer of the film, Jörg Schmidt Reitwein, was presented the award for “Best Photography" for his work in the film.
Markus Fischer’s film “Marmorera” is about the story of the village of Marmorera in the Swiss Alps, which was flooded because of a local dam project in the early 1950s. However, the sunken village has not been lain to rest even today, for when an unknown, confused young woman is rescued from Lake Marmorera, she soon becomes a puzzling figure of much concern for Zurich’s psychiatrists.

The Festival of Fantastic Films is affiliated with the University of Malaga and is, together with Sitges and San Sebastian, the third Spanish member of European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF). The federation represents 19 festivals in Europe.
