Michael Moore has invited the triumphant Swiss documentary film “More Than Honey” to the Traverse City Film Festival. The film’s director, Markus Imhoof, will present his work personally at the festival in Michigan (USA). Furthermore, the multi-award-winning film continues its international career in cinemas in Great Britain and Ireland.

Following the theatrical release in New York and the launch of the film in the USA, film director and author Michael Moore has invited “More Than Honey” by Markus Imhoof to the Traverse City Film Festival (July 30 - August 4 2013). Moore, well known for such films as “Bowling For Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 9/11,” is a co-founder of the festival and represents documentary filmmaking on the Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. The annual festival has taken place in Michigan (USA) since 2005. It is a charitable and educational non-profit organisation, focusing on foreign films, documentaries and American independent productions.

Theatrical release in Great Britain and Ireland
In addition, the Swiss-German-Austrian coproduction will be released in cinemas in Great Britain and Ireland in August. The English actor John Hurt has assumed the role of narrator for the film. World sales for “More Than Honey” are doing extremely well. It will be released – or has been released – in cinemas throughout almost all of Europe as well as in Brazil, Taiwan and the USA. The documentary film has been screened in 28 countries by now. With ticket sales of approximately 230,000 in Switzerland, it is the most frequently seen Swiss documentary film and currently ranks 12th as the most successful Swiss film in the cinema (since the inception of the ranking list in 1975).

Countless festival participations and awards
The film, coproduced by Thelma Film (Jura), has pursued a sensational festival career and been honoured with numerous awards since its premiere on the Piazza Grande in Locarno in August 2012: the Swiss Film Award, German Film Award, Romy in Vienna, Bavarian Film Award, Best Documentary at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, among others. Imhoof attends many of the festival and cinema premieres personally, including the one in Traverse City.

“Das Boot ist voll”
Markus Imhoof has produced successful documentary and fiction films: his fiction film “Das Boot ist voll” (1981) received an Oscar nomination. With ticket sales of about 160,000, it ranks among the 20 most frequently seen Swiss films (since 1975).
