Mostra Venice: “L’intervallo” showered with awards

The fiction film “L’intervallo” by Leonardo Di Costanzo, coproduced in Switzerland, was honoured with seven awards from independent juries at the Mostra International Film Festival in Venice, thereby emerging as the most awarded film of this festival edition.

The fiction film “L’intervallo” by Leonardo Di Costanzo, coproduced in Switzerland, was honoured with seven awards from independent juries at the Mostra International Film Festival in Venice, thereby emerging as the most awarded film of this festival edition.

The film “L’intervallo” by Italian director Leonardo Di Costanzo (coproduction: Amka Films, Ticino) garnered seven awards at the 69th Venice International Film Festival, which ended on September 8, 2012. The fiction film was screened in the “Orizzonti” (Horizons) competition. It depicts the face-off between young woman confined in an abandoned building by the Mafia and her guard. The film was honoured with the festival’s Collateral Awards” from the following independent juries: the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film of “Orizzonti” and the Film Critics’ Week sections; the Francesco Pasinetti (SNGCI) Award; the CICT - UNESCO “Enrico Fulchignoni” award; the FEDIC Award; the Lanterna Magica (CGS) Award; the AIF FORFILMFEST Award; and the UK - Italy Creative Industries Award – Best Innovative Budget Award.

Three Swiss film productions and coproductions were screened in the festival’s official sections in Venice. Swiss director Ursula Meier was a member of the international jury that awarded the Golden Lion.
