Oscar nomination for the short film “On the line”

The Swiss-German co-production “On The Line” by Reto Caffi will participate in the 81st Academy Awards. The thirty-minute film, Caffi’s graduation film at the Academy of Media Arts (KHM) in Cologne, is one of the five nominees in the category of “Best Live Action Short Film” and thus in the running for the ultimate award. The awards will be presented in the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles on February 22, 2009. The 37-year-old film director will attend the Oscar awards ceremony.
This prestigious nomination is the climax in the impressive career of the short film “On The Line”. Until now, it has been honoured with 50 awards, including the Swiss Film Prize QUARTZ 2008 (Best Short Film), the Grand Prix 2008 at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, the Lutin 2008 Best European Short Film and the Student Oscar (Honorary Foreign Film Student Award).



Generally speaking, the Oscar nomination for “Auf der Strecke” is a tribute to Swiss short film productions, whose vitality and diversity have attracted a great deal of international attention.
