Premiere of the football short film reel “Eleven Minutes” at the Vienna Independent Shorts Festival

“Eleven Minutes” is the title of the Austrian-Swiss short film reel, which was produced with regard to the EURO 08. The compilation will celebrate ist world premiere on the occasion of the opening of the 5th “Vienna Independent Shorts” Festival (May 16-23, 2008) on Friday May 16, in Vienna´s Gartenbaukino. Nine short films (five Swiss and four Austrian productions) compose this 90-minute reel, the sole film project concerning the European Football League Championship.
The Swiss participants will be: The short film “La touche” by Robin Harsch, which was especially produced for “Eleven Minutes”, the animation film “FC Murmeli” by Dustin Rees and Jochen Ehmann, “Alptraum” by This Lüscher as well as the two short films “Oscar” by Roberto Martinez and “Hopp Schwyz” by Fulvio Bernasconi, created a number of years ago. In the match with a duration of twice 45 minutes they compete against four football short films from Austria: “Kopfball” by Eva Hausberger, “Mit Blick auf Wien” by Johanna Moder, “Schwarze Perlen” by Benedikt Rubey and Wolfgang Murnberger as well as “Replay´08” by Peter Hörmanseder.



On the part of Switzerland SWISS FILMS has initiated and coordinated the selection and production of the short film reel in the different formats (35 mm, DVD). In Switzerland, the movies will be shown during the EURO 08 (additional information regarding the screening dates and locations of performance will follow). In collaboration with Presence Switzerland, Swiss embassies and Austrian cultural forums in various countries, the program will go off on tour.



The Vienese short film festival “Vienna Independent Shorts” focuses the attention especially on the Swiss short film-making. In total, 23 Swiss short films are part of the program. The two animation films “Jeu” by Georges Schwizgebel and “Elvira” by Sabine Lattmann will be presented in the competition program. The program entitled “The Dark Side of Switzerland”, compiled by SWISS FILMS, will present previously unknown and shady material from the domestic production and will be complimented by a buffet with Swiss specialities. Furthermore, the Animation Film Festival Fantoche from Baden will introduce itself with a program in Vienna. In special programs – respectively in deck-chair cinemas – the films will also be projected onto the ceiling. Simon Koenig, being in charge of the short film department at SWISS FILMS, will be a member of the international jury.
