The Swiss-Russian documentary film “The Mother” by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov was honoured with the “Eurodoc” Award at the 5th Festival de Cine Europeo in Seville (November 7-15, 2008). This award is endowed with 30,000 euros, which contribute to the distribution of the film in Spain.
The film “The Mother“, which required three years of research and filming, portrays a woman who struggles to keep her family alive in Russia today. Along with being nominated for the Prix Arte – Best Documentary Film of the European Film Award 2008, it recently won two other awards: the Documentary Film Award at the 15th Festival internacional de cine Valdivia in Chile (October 3-8) and the Grand Prize in Morocco at the 1st Festival international du documentaire Agadir (November 4-8).

Together with “The Mother”, two other Swiss films were in the running for the “Eurodoc” Award in Seville: “Hidden Heart” by Cristina Karrer and Werner Schweizer; and “La forteresse” by Fernand Melgar.
