Prize and money for Milagros Mumenthaler in Munich

The Argentine-Swiss director Milagros Mumenthaler won the international young talents award for her film “Abrir puertas y venanas” at the Filmfest München.

The Argentine-Swiss director Milagros Mumenthaler won the international young talents award for her film “Abrir puertas y venanas” at the Filmfest München. The CineVision Award, which is worth 12'000 Euros, honours the best international young talent’s film.

Milagros Mumenthaler received the CineVision Award for the best international young talent’s film at the 30th Filmfest München, which ended on July 7. The prize, endowed by Senator, the leading German distribution company, has been awarded at the Munich film festival since 2007. It is intended to substantially support directors from abroad, providing them with the opportunity to come into the limelight in Germany. The jury was made up of director Markus Schleinzer, screenwriter Annette Friedmann and producer Thanassis Karathanos.

International career

Since its debut in Locarno last year, where “Abrir puertas y venanas” won the Golden Leopard, the film has been presented at 25 film festivals around the world and received 15 awards. Milagros Mumenthaler was born in Buenos Aires in 1977 and grew up in Geneva. She studied film at the Universidad de Ciné in Buenos Aires. Her short film “Amancay“ and her feature debut «Abrir puertas y venanas», which is already being shown in seven countries, are Argentine / Swiss coproductions.
