The Short Film Night, organised by SWISS FILMS, successfully concluded the first half of its tour for this year with a stop in Lucerne last Friday. The 11th Short Film Night, organised by SWISS FILMS, made the last stop of its tour in German-speaking Switzerland last Friday in Lucerne. Ticket sales amounting to a total of about 11,700 mark a record attendance again this year: an increase of 24% compared to the previous year. Moreover, cinemas were sold out in a number of cities, for example, in Zurich, Basel Bern and St. Gallen.

Success story
The long night of short films is one of Switzerland’s largest events for the short film genre. Year after year it gains ever-growing popularity among a broad public. The tour showcases the many facets of national and international short film productions in four thematic programmes screened in cinemas throughout all of Switzerland. In addition, a regional premiere with the filmmaker in attendance is offered at every stop in the tour: in Zurich Jan-Eric Mack presented his latest short film “Alfonso”; Samuel Flückiger’s “Terminal” was screened in Basel; and Fabio Friedli’s “Hold-up” celebrated its premiere in Bern. A number of regional short film productions were integrated into the programmes in Aarau, Wettingen and St. Gallen.

Second half
From April 5 to June 7, 2013, the Short Film Night toured German-speaking Switzerland in Zurich, Basel, Chur, Winterthur, Schaffhausen, Wettingen, Aarau, Bern, St. Gallen, Lucerne and this year also in Uster for the first time. Its tour in Romandy and Ticino will begin on October 4.
