09.09.2008

The 3rd Sapporo International Short Film Festival and Market will showcase films made by Swiss director Reto Caffi, whose award-winning graduation film “Auf der Strecke” (production: Academy of Media Art Cologne) will be screened in the international competition. The festival runs from September 11-15, 2008 on the island of Hokkaido in Japan. Furthermore, the Swiss short film “Alptraum” by This Lüscher will also be among the 113 short works from all over the world that will be screened in the competition.
In addition to presenting his multiple award-winning film “Auf der Strecke”, the Sapporo Short Fest will honour Reto Caffi with a retrospective, screening four other short films: “Männer am Meer” (2005), “Bus Stop 99” (2000), “Leo’s Freunde” (1996 co-directed with Tom Traber) and “Quickie” (1995, co-directed with Niculin Jäger). The director from Bern will attend the festival in Sapporo to present his work personally.

Although a newcomer on the international scene of short film festivals, the Sapporo International Short Film Festival made a name for itself from the start and is now the most important short film festival in Japan. It was established in 2006 and screens films from all over the world. Georges Schwizgebel was awarded the prize for Best Animation Film for his film “Jeu” at last year’s festival.
