Roadmovie – Cinema along rural roads

29.10.2004

Beginning October 5th, the mobile cinema Roadmovie travels Switzerland’s rural states for the second year. It sets up stage in 37 communities and presents a selection of Swiss filmmaking.
With rattling projectors, video beamers, and a movie screen, the mobile cinema Roadmovie travels rural roads from October 5 to November 26 – from small villages in the Western part of Switzerland to the southern state of Ticino and back to the Bernese countryside. The movie-on-wheels stops in a village for a day where various gathering places are transformed into movie theatres. Cooperating with local village commissions and school boards, special screenings are held in the afternoon for children and teenagers, while in the evening, the audience can savor a movie night in a school auditorium, vicarage, or in community multipurpose halls. The program features Swiss films, from classics such as “Dällebach Kari” to audience favorites such as “Corn in Parliament.” A Swiss short film usually introduces the main evening feature. Roadmovie receives support from SWISS FILMS, the lottery Romande, Migros-Kulturprozent, as well as from contributions by numerous states and endowments. Admission is free. Membership contributions from the newly created Roadmovie-Club also help finance the project.
