Roadmovie – Cinema on the Country Road

18.08.2003

Beginning August 20, 2003, the mobile cinema “Roadmovie” will be traveling through nine rural Swiss cantones for the duration of a month. It will set up stage in 20 villages and present a selection of Swiss filmmaking.
Equipped with a rattling 16-mm projector, a videobeamer, a portable screen, and chairs, the mobile cinema “Roadmovie” will be traveling on country roads from August 20 – September 16: from the village Gonten in the Eastern part of Switzerland, to the mountain region of Puschlav and on to Coeuve in the Jura mountains in the West. The cinema “on four wheels” will stop for a day in villages remote from Swiss movie theatres. In cooperation with local civil and school authorities, a special screening is held for children in the afternoon, while, in the evening, the general public can savor a movie under the stars. The program consists of Swiss films – proven classics such as “Romeo und Julia auf dem Dorfe”, Yves Yersins’ masterpiece “Les Petities Fugues”, as well as this year’s diploma film from the Lucerne School of Art and Design’ Animation department. A recently produced short film will introduce the nightly entertainment. All information about locations, dates, and the film program can be found at www.roadmovie.ch. Roadmovie is supported by Pro Helvetia, Loterie romande, Migros-Kulturprozent, and various cantones. The entrance is free – except for a donation collected after the evening film.
