Rome Filmfest with Swiss participation

15.10.2007

At the 2nd edition of the Festa internazionale die Rome, taking place from October 18 – 27, 2007, the Swiss-Italian co-production “Giorni e nuvole” by Silvio Soldini (Amka Film, Savosa) will celebrate its premiere. Further, the Geneva feature film “Fragile” by Laurent Nègre (Bord Cadre Films, Geneva) will be screened as part of the “New Cinema Network” program, which introduces first films by 14 young European talents to the Roman audience and bestows valuable prizes for second time feature film projects.
The 49-year-old Swiss-Italian dual citizen Silvio Soldini achieved his international breakthrough with his film “Pane e tulipani” in 2000. His most recent work, “Giorni e nuvole” portrays the sudden life crisis a happy middle class family finds itself in, and which in turn threatens a formerly solid love relationship. Similarly, in the first-time feature “Fragile”, Laurent Nègre shows broken family relationships, a topic that also inspires his next film project, “Butano”. The Rome Filmfest invited the 34-year-old Geneva director along with his producer Dan Wechsler to attend the “New Cinema Network”, where a total of 14 up-and-coming new talents will have the opportunity to present their films and film projects and to find production partners. One of the selected feature films will be bestowed with a prize of 30,000 Euro on October 23.
